Our grantmaking activities aim to honour and celebrate the valuable contribution that airfields have made in shaping the world we live in today.  We offer small grants to support activities that;

  • Promote wider education, awareness & knowledge about British airfields and aviation
  • Conserve & protect historical artefacts relating to airfields and aviation (for example, collections of books, maps, blueprints, logbooks and airfield wall art & photography), particularly where these will provide an educational or cultural benefit to the public

Our main grantmaking is through student scholarships and small grants, though from time to time ABCT may award larger grants to voluntary community organisations whose work is known to the trustees. Applications for grants larger than £2,500 are not accepted and will not be assessed. However, if you have a project requiring more substantial funding that may be relevant to ABCT, please contact us by telephone or summarise your idea briefly in an e-mail.

ABCT is also undertaking a long-term airfield memorials programme which aims to erect a memorial marker stone at every known disused airfield site in Britain. If your funding request relates to an airfield, squadron or similar memorial project, please contact us directly before submitting an application form as we may be able to assist you more quickly.
