Ramsey (Airship)

Major
Also known as: RAF Ramsey
County: Isle of Man
Current Status: Unknown (location not known)
Date: World War One
Current Use: Disused
Used By: RAF

A mooring-out station for airships operating out of Luce Bay (subsequently much better known as West Freugh) was created during World War One at Ramsey. It was listed in official records during 1918 but effectively nothing else is known about this place, and even official maps for that year for some reason do not highlight the airfield. One or two vague suggestions have arisen that its location may have been to the west of the town, perhaps even towards what later became Hall Caine Airport, but again this is all purely speculation.
